Obtaining public liability insurance as a discharged BR?

I was discharged from BR in May 2016, and am in the process of starting my own business which I require public liability insurance for.

Everywhere I have tried so far has declined me due to being registered bankrupt in the past 5 years. Very frustrating, especially as my requirements are fairly simplistic (2 employees).

Anyone know of anywhere that is more likely to provide it to me?

Discussing with a broker would be your best bet. They can advise you on the cover you need and will find an insurer to do it. Don't expect a cheap premium though.

Try Kingsbridge Insurance. That's who I use.

  • My OH is also fully discharged from his bankruptcy and got his liability insurance from Ashburnham Insurance. They asked a couple of questions and it didn't seem a problem and was same price.

I'm sure he got lots of quotes when he was looking. A couple didn't want to know and a few were more expensive but he did find several that were not bothered.
