Hello, please can i ask for some advice:

A driver parked for 5 mins on private land apparently and received a CPM ticket, I did nothing thinking its just a cowboy company but now I had just got a county court business centre letter with the fine now at £242!! eek

What do I do? what can I do?

Any help or advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

firstly , edit the above and remove any hint of who was driving

    just use THE DRIVER

then read post #38 of this thread and decide what info you were given

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5722800

then read the NEWBIES FAQ that you missed at the top of this forum , second thread down , read post #2

now depending on if the POC are to follow , you will need to do what those posts tell you , especially the one I linked

and we may need more details on what they have said in the POC too

ps:- its not a "fine" , its an invoice , commonly known as a parking charge notice , or pcn for short (no private company can "fine" you)

    Thanks for your support.

    Many thanks for your assistance.

To be honest I am struggling a little bit with all the information plus I am also autistic which makes concentrating difficult for me.

I have just received this county court business centre letter and I'm still not sure what to do, what actions to take. The particulars of the claim state "the drive of vehicle registration number .......... incurred parking charges for breaching the terms of parking on the land at ........road. The defendant was driving the vehicle and/or is the keeper of the vehicle and the claimant claims £160 for parking charges, damages and indemnity costs if applicable, together with interest pursuant to s69 of the county courts act 1984 at 8% pa continuing to judgement at 0.04 per day"

So on the back of the form I can:

Allow for more time to reply to the claim.
Agree and pay in full now.
Agree and ask for more time to pay.
Admit only part of the claim.
Disagree with the claim or counterclaim.

Which of these do I select?

Sorry if I sound a bit stupid here but some very simple advice would be much appreciated as I am struggling here.

    Many thanks for your help!

there is no "simple answer" and no "basic outline" , sorry to say

this is a legal matter and no legal matter is simple or basic

sorry , to hear of your "issues" , but the fact remains that I gave you the best advice I could for a complicated matter , where the legal advice has just been written by a solicitor helping out for free and also a regular poster (CM) who has tried to give the best free advice there is in the UK in that NEWBIES sticky thread

and in that same sticky thread post a link to a BARGEPOLE post (BMPA) that outlines the old procedure (which has changed a little since 01 oct 2017)

Please read post #2 of the NEWBIES thread 'what happens when'.

There, bargepole and LoadsofChildren123 both tell you which boxes to tick and what to do.

If you need help do you have a relative or colleague who can double check you are taking the right steps?
