Looking for a new job from scratch

Hi, I need a job
I am in my 50's and for the last 20 years have worked for my husband ( mainly admin stuff ) in our small 2 person business. For various reasons ( mainly his ill health ) we will be winding up the company in January and whilst he will then retire, I am too young for that and will be unemployed. I have no idea where to start. I have an appt with my jobcentre to create a CV, which I haven't done for 20 years. I have no quantifiable qualifications or experience and my only employment reference would be my husband which means I would probably end up writing myself. Once I have a CV, where do I look, do I try companies like Reed, and Indeed, or the jobcentre. Not even sure what I want to do ( anything but retail I suppose ). Please help

Have you thought about temporary admin work?
Have a look at those websites you've mentioned as well as local smaller agencies.0 -
Why not register with a few job sites for job alerts? I've found Indeed to be very good, you can tick on which sectors you're interested in receiving alerts from, and how frequently you want to receive the alerts, as after browsing through the job descriptions, person specifications, and the salaries for each post that takes your interest, it will give you some indication of what will be expected for each role, and if you think you could handle it.
Be careful which job sites you register with and who you post your CV with, as some sites can be a little unscrupulous with your data - I personally don't link my CV to any job site account, I just forward it to each post that takes my interest.
Wishing you lots of luck!0 -
What about a similar business to what you & hubby did?
You can list things you've done in your current job, I know you say admin but as it was hubby's business you may have done some financial bookkeeping too.
CVs are good to have on paper the tasks you've done and the dates employment correlates to but I find that very few jobs asks for this these days although agencies do.
Be very careful with agencies though, they play many games.0
