  • You're making some important changes to cut down on your expenses. It's not easy but it will make all the difference eventually.

    It's hard to make lots of changes at once as you need to adjust emotionally, so it often needs to be a process.

  • As regards your wife working, it doesn't have to impact on pick ups etc.
    There are a lot of jobs in retail for example where you can work part time, and do 4 hour shifts - 10 - 2 for example. Especially at the moment as so many places are ramping up the staffing for Christmas. There are also plenty of shifts evenings/weekends when you might be home anyway.

    You don't mention how old the children are, but as a 14 year old I was perfectly capable of minding my siblings for a couple of hours if necessary, and people were always prepared to give lifts for pick ups/drop offs.
