Mortgage approved then declined

Options
Looking for some advice as considering a complaint

High street bank (current lender) requested I attend with all statements proof of income etc. Provided all info of dependants affordability etc.

Mortgage advisor said she'd rather ask the underwriter to approve the case first before we pay for valuation.

We needed two valuations 1. Bank 2. Staircase for so purposes

Underwater came back ok, paid for valuation for ha. Came back affordable all good and so paid for bank valuation.

All of the above took around 3 months as the adviser was away in holiday and only worked part weeks.

She emailed to say money would be in the bank this week - I thought how weird! But I was happy it was possible as regardless I could complete the purchase.

Next thing she tells me she needs proof of income again, I provide this and this shows my partner is on the income as it's child tax credits I. Joint names, she tells me the underwriter won't accept it as the Mortgage needs to be in joint names.

So after all of the above nothing has changed and now we have. Wen declined so to speak. I have also spent £500 on valuation fees.

Do you think I should have been told that the incomein two names but paid to me should not have been counted (they saw it) and accepted it, then declined it later after I wasted months and hours of time and £500

Upset obviously and fully appreciate they can withdraw an offer anytime but I do feel very let down by a bank I would consider to be reputable and my own.

:(

Sounds like you've been messed around royally and a complaint would be justified.

If you are still in need of a mortgage, then consider using a broker next time....
