help!!

I know it's not that much debt, but I need help.

What I owe:
Credit cards - 2000
Bank accounts (where I've gone over agreed limit) - 500
Money Shop (pawn brokers) - 250
Phone bill - 100 (now been cut off)

outgoings:
Phone - 35 per month (at least)
car insurance - 50

incomings:
0.....

I luckily still live at home and so do not have to pay any rent etc. I am waiting to receive job seekers allowance and that will be about 180 per month. I am looking for work but there arent any going at the mo.

Also I will be going to France in December until April 08. I will be earning about 300 per month with no outgoings.

Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome

You need to list your CCs, with the amount on each card, the maximum, the minimum monthly amount and the APR plus whether you are paying interest on the other accounts.

Also if you have a car, there are lots of other costs assocaited with it; tax, finance, repairs MOT. you ned to add these,
    plus

    clothes, going out etc.

As a first point, can you sell the car?

Have a look at the sticky at the top of this board which has ways of maximising income - surveys, mystery shopping etc.

also, get ebaying and make the most of the time you have on your hands by doing car boot sales etc.

Is it that there is literally no work in your vicinity, or is it that there is no work that you want to do? If the latter, then it may be time to take whatever you can, however crap the job!

Ebay everything you have that isn't nailed down - CD's , clothes you bought in the spur of the moment, Playstation (etc) games, shoe that looked great when you bought them and then you never wore.

Sign up to quidco and greasypalm and started clicking all the freebies you can even if it is 5p a click.

Where abouts do you live? Are you right out in the sticks where there may be no work locally? Otherwise, start looking in Tesco, Asda etc, they are always looking for staff for various shifts.

If you aren't working, could you sell the car and walk/get the bus?

You need to draw up some sort of budget and discuss your situation with a debt advice group they may be able to help you lower your monthly repayments, make sure its a free non profit organisation some one like CCCS or PAYPLAN.
  • Could you maybe switch your phone to Pay as You Go several providers are now offering PAYG sim cards with a certain amount of free txt messages.
