Gap between sale and purchase - update?

Options
Dear all,

I've had to have a gap between my sale and purchase and am moving back to one of my previous addresses temporarily.
My lender has agreed to continue processing my mortgage offer as it was already issued and has agreed that I don't need to change anything.

Do I need to change my address on my bank accounts and electoral roll to my temporary address? I don't receive statements by post. I'm concerned that if I do change it for the few weeks I'm between places, it'll trigger a new search. If things don't match up I'm concerned that there will be an issue. Equally the address is an old one that already exists on my credit report.

My lender is happy with the gap and fully aware of what is happening, so I'm not hiding anything at all, I'm just staying with family for a few weeks while I wait. It's so stressful. I just don't want to exchange and then hit problems if there's a recheck.

I wouldn't do / change anything until you complete. If you have informed your lender and they don't have an issue with it, just leave it be, especially if you are due to move again in a few weeks

  • Shouldn’t need to, and even if you did, I doubt it will cause a problem on the application

Just be mindful that if the lender needs to send anymore paperwork pre completion, where will it go? Set up post redirect until you move into your new house to be on the safe side.
  • Thank you both for your responses, I really appreciate them. I have a redirect set up and my mortgage information comes to work.
    Fingers crossed completion comes soon.
    Thank you
