Hello!
Love this forum, been lurking for a while but decided to post and ask a few questions - getting inspiration!
Main reason for this post is I'm in a rented flat, been there a few years and starting to notice wear and tear on things so doing my best to keep stuff nice!
Got a shower over bath and lots of problems with limescale, and now black marks appearing on grouting.
Anything economical I can use to get rid of these and to keep them away?

Welcome to the board.
The mold spots are a nightmare. We had this problem in a rental before. You need to keep the bathroom ventilated and the walls dry between use.
If you wipe the grout with bleach it does not come back as quick. Getting rid of the marks is quite hard and takes elbow grease. Try white toothpaste and a scrubbing brush or old toothbrush.
Others may have a better way.0 -
before the landlord comes to check the flat.. paint them with emulsion!! it wipes straight off the tiles but soaks into the grout.
Usually it is easier to regrout the tiles though.
neat bleach on them helps.. try wiping the tiles down once you've finished in the bathroom to get rid of excess moisture.. a window squeegee is ace for this. and as has been said let it air!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Emulsion. Why did I not think of that.0

Thanks for this, will try the bleach, have scrubbed with bathroom cleaner previously! The sealant between bath and tiled walls is probably the worst!
Bathroom hasnt got a window so ventilation is difficult!:j Debt-Free-Wannabe! :jDeclutter/Ebay/Savings0 -
We always had a problem with mould in the bathroom too. I have noticed it doesn't come back very much if, after showering, I get the towel I have just dried myself with & dry down the tiles & any other damp in the bathroom (ie the windows etc) Since I have been doing that we haven't had much problem with mould at all.
That stops the limescale too, as it is the lime in the water droplets that remains on the tiles etc after the water has evaporated which causes the problem.
Now I have got the whole procedure up & running it is really easy to keep clean, but first of all I had to bleach all the grout to get rid of the mould, & got rid of the limescale with cillit bang lime & grime stuff. It's quite expensive but you should only need it once to get rid of what is there, then don't let it build up again.0 -
i have found cillit bang really good for cleaning up nasty groutMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
