Discharged BR, possible mortgage??

Hi all,

I’ve been discharged for 15 months and I’m wondering if there are any mortgage companies out there that would consider myself for a mortgage?

I earn 36k and can draw around 30k for a deposit to put towards one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

You need to find a good broker that would consider lenders that will be comfortable with the bankruptcy.

There are lenders out there that would consider you, but not high-street.

  • Does anyone know of anyone that I could contact?
  • Do a search on Google.
Most brokers will recommend precise mortgages...Aldermore...TML..or Kensington...I've been told only Precise can help me as I have had recent mortgage arrears and pay day loans...so let's see .
  • Hi thanks for the info. I’ve filled in an enquiry form with the online mortgage advisor so will see why they come up with. Do you know what kind of interest rates you’re looking at?

Your interest rates are going to be above the high street ones due to your credit history and higher risk

  • I fully understand that but do you have a rough idea of how much the interest rates will be around? 4-5% or higher?
  • We are 4 years discharged and we found a great broker who got us a deal with a lender at 2.29% for 5 years fixed. 14 year mortgage for £97,000. This was our only chance at a mortgage if they declined. I got excellent help from G_M and others on this forum, but even though I had to chase my broker for things. They found me this building society so in the end he was excellent
  • That’s great news then. Hopefully we can be as lucky and find a mortgage we can afford.

Four years discharged is very different to 15 months.

But good luck with everything :)

I agree. Also someone else mentions kensington, Aldermore and RPecise - 3 adverse lenders who do not do ex bankrupts either at all or atleast not within 6 years.

It can potentially be done, rates will be higher.
