Help with recipie please

Hi guys

So I made the key lime pie recipie that's on the first pages of the grocery challenge thread and OMG it's amazing !!!

I went to make it again yesterday and realised that I opeended the van of condensed milk with chocolate in it by mistake :o ... I was thinking I might have a try at making a chocolate cheesecake with it using the basics of the key lime pie recipie ... so here's my question

The key lime pie topping is just condensed milk and double cream whipped then add the juice and zest from limes and whip until it starts to thicken, then it goes on top of a ginger snap crumb base and in the fridge.
I was thinking of using the chocolate condensed milk with double cream and changing the lime for oranges ... do you think it's the limes that make it thicken and if so do you think the oranges would so the same ..

Sorry if I sound really silly but I don't want to waste

Thanks a million Lisa x

Disclaimer: I have never made key lime pie.

My thoughts: I'd have thought it would work the same because limes and oranges are both citrus fruits; you can make marmalade with any citrus fruit or combination thereof, so I don't see why this wouldn't translate to other recipes also. That's my logic, anyway.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

Chocolate-orange is a well-established good flavour combination (I say this as someone who made a huge batch of chocolate orange flapjacks yesterday that is left with mere crumbs this evening) but interestingly I think chocolate might work well with the lime flavour. I base my prediction on these, which I personally don’t like, but seem to be popular enough:
