Can I pay pension contributions from my limited company into an existing pension plan

I'm looking to make a lump sum pension contribution from my limited company, but am wondering if I can pay it directly into one of my existing plans from a previous (or current) employer (as an AVC?)? Or do I need to set up a new pension plan specific to my limited company? My existing plans are either stakeholder plans (I think) or GPPs.

As always I have found the answer is it depends, but often the answer is yes.
Best thing to do is phone them up and ask if your new employer can pay into this scheme. It's down to their own rules and what was agreed with the previous employer(i.e. they are subsidising the charges-some GPP's are like this etc). If they don't allow it in this scheme they will normally have a scheme where you can. The challenge is then to watch out for any changes in the charges. (But as a general rule charges have got lower so a newer scheme normally is better).

Are you a director of the company? If so, the company can make the payments from profits, which saves on corporation tax.
If you are not a director, but an employee, then the company should have a staging date to set up an autoenrollment scheme.

I'm a director of company A (which I'm looking to close). I'm also an employee of company B, where I'm on PAYE. I intend to take the payment from profits of company A, and pay as an employee contribution into company B's pension scheme.

Having written it like that, it doesn't sound like it should be possible!
