Lost Train Ticket

First post so go on easy on me please! Looking for similar experiences to one I had recently and any positive outcomes people have had. I recently bought 2 advanced return train tickets but lost them the day before travel - even though I could prove I'd paid for them and I had a copy of the email purchase/seat…

Sounds like you learnt an expensive lesson.
As others have pointed out, the answer to your 'in this day and age' point is to use the App for the train company you were travelling with to buy the tickets. They are then associated with your account, can be downloaded onto any device you can sign into on, and no need for arbitrary bits of paper. Just don't forget your phone!
