Parking Direct UK

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me.

I recieved a parking ticket at my place of residence from Parking Direct UK due to my parking permit being expired.

I emailed my landlord for assistance as she normally automatically sends me a new permit. She admitted there was a fault on her part and emailed park direct uk, with me cc'd, stating that there had been an issue getting a new permit and to please revoke the ticket.

I didn't hear any response so when the first letter arrived I followed up with my landlord who said she was sorting it and again when the third letter arrived.

My landlord then emailed me to say I now had to pay £160, instead of £60/£100, as the ticket was now with their debt collection agency and there was nothing they could do. Needless to say I find this unacceptable and refuse to pay as contact was made to PDUK.

It's worth noting that between then and now I was issued a second parking permit, incorrectly, this was swiftly appealed against, by my landlord, and overturned within a week so I know this process works.

I have spoken to PDUK and the debt agency who both say there's nothing they can do and send me to the other department. PDUK say they recieved my landlords request, accepted it and asked her to pay the admin fee to revoke the ticket. This wasn't done and this is why it's now with a debt collection agency.

Where do I stand with appeals, ending up in court or with my landlord? I feel that I am not responsible for this as I was removed from the equation when my landlord made contact on my behalf and PDUK contacted her individually stating what needed to be done.

Please help!

Looks like you’re now at debt collector stage (£160 suggests so). Too late to appeal if that’s the case. So follow the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4 which tells you about debt collectors. Then it’s a case of waiting to see if PDUK commence court proceedings.

They’re mildly litigious, but the new Pre-Action Protocol (PAP) will make it a good bit more troublesome for them to just lash out Court claims willy, nilly.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Utter garbage, they can cancel at anytime they want, but that's not lucrative, the PPC is there to protect your parking not harass you!

I would tell your landlord if it gets to court you would be calling her as a witness!

There is no such firm as 'Parking Direct UK'. Please edit the thread title.

Her fault then, if you are sued.
