Enhanced DBS check/Ex-Employer still sending payslips to HMRC

Hello, first of all I'm starting a new job next week as a care assistant. They applied for a POVA yesterday and they said it should only take a few days.
Does anyone have any idea of how long it takes on average Merseyside Police to process DBS checks? Don't want to be waiting ages.
I left a job back in August I had trouble getting some pay. I was only there nearly 6 weeks. Withoit overtime/days holiday my total pay before tax was £1575. Been paid 1106 upto now, including 200 I was paid after basically begging him.
I have been working a temporary job since. Thing is hough his accountant is sending wrong info to HMRC. They think I was paid:
5th August: £937.50
5th September: £1218.75
5th October: £1218.75
My tax code is now 607L X. It seems to go down a lot on the 5th of each month. In my temporary job which I'm paid weekly in I get taxed quite a bit. I also don't know why the money I owe HMRC seems to be getting higher all the time.
The employer doesn't seem interested, he keeps saying it's with the accountant. Also he never did provide a P45/payslips.
I spoke to HMRC webchat yesterday and they said they will do a referral, how long can it take and what does it usually involve?

I was processing DBS checks for volunteers until recently and the time factor was ...... random! On average if the volunteer was local and always had been (Cornwall) then on average it was 10 days to 3 weeks. Best ever was 48 hours. However if the address trail went close to the Met Police area it was often over a month with a worst case of 5 months (and it was clear) Amongst our guidelines was a rule that we couldn't raise a ''hastener'' until 60 days had passed. Not much use to you but it really is a stab in the dark.0

Ok thanks. I know my POVA check came back quite quickly. Hopefully I'm not waiting too long for the rest. I've lived at 3 addresses in the past 5 years but all in the same local area.0

Does anyone know...
If I was to make a small claims case against my past employer, would I claim for total unpaid or would I have to work out the tax? He's annoying me by ignoring the payroll issue mostly. He doesn't owe me that much but I'm skint.
My tax code is now 579L X.0 -
I can't answer the tax question but as a follow up to the DBS checks - if you have your application reference number you can track its progress here: https://secure.crbonline.gov.uk/enquiry/enquirySearch.do
In the very unlikely event it goes beyond 60 days in stage four a link will appear that will let you escalate the application (which essentially prompts the DBS to contact the current police force and tell them to pull their thumb out).A witty saying proves nothing0
