Transfer old pensions to current one?

Hi,
Looking for advise.
I have 5 pensions of different amounts (a few thousand to over 30k) from previous jobs. What things should I look out for to help me decide if I should leave them were they are or transfer them into my current pension.
I've never used a financial advisor, was thinking of finding one for some advise. Is it possible to get some free advise or do they all charge?
Thanks

Are the old pensions deferred defined benefit pensions?
Or are they Defined Contribution pensions?
If not defined benefit are there any safeguarded benefits (GARs)?
