Late Wages

I was supposed to be paid my monthly wages on last Saturday the 14th, But i am still waiting now as they say they had technical problems with the payments and they are still trying to catch up, This has led me to be late with my Rent as well as missing payments for debts for which i will now face extra charges, Is there anything i can do about this ?

  • Do you have a contract? Does that state when you will be paid? If so, yes, your employer is responsible for paying you on time and should reimburse you for any costs you UNAVOIDABLY incur through their late payment.

You have the responsibility to keep these costs as low as possible.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

Going forward you should post your SOA (Statement of Affairs) on the Debt Free Forum on here. They will then be able to review your financial situation and help you to cut down on costs and build up some savings as a safety buffer for when things like this happen.

Which is entirely beside the point...

It does depend on your contract in the first instance. Jobbingmusician is right.

Once this is sorted out it might be worth investigating the possibility of changing payment dates for rent etc to allow a buffer between the date you should be paid and date your outgoing payments are due to be paid. It shouldn't be necessary but, as you have discovered, any delay in receiving your pay has a knock on effect which is best avoided if possible.
