lost cc statement! GRRRRRRRH Not true!

Thinking I'd better pay this month's bill a bit earlier if the post is up the creek, have realised I can't find my current statement etc. Tried to log on to the AMEX site - but need my card for the special code - and as it was a balance transfer initially I deliberately hid the card so I couldn't spend on it! Where did I hide it? Errr, not sure! How am I going to pay? Do I just have to miss a payment and get penalised? Even if I phone I'm going to need the card details aren't I? Did wonder if statement was also caught up in mail delay but it should have been generated on 26th September, so not likely is it? Any ideas?
Guess what arrived in today's post??? Statement dated 26th September, delivered on 15th October! Can hardly be last week's postal dispute can it?????

Hiya, if you ring them they will be able to track down your account without the card number - then they can give you the balance and advise you on ways to make the payment, ie bacs details etc.
Or if you've paid it by internet banking in the past, the details might be stored on there?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Def give them a call and explain. If they say they can't help you then use it as a weapon in getting any over pay charge etc refunded in full - after all, you are TRYING to pay them, not forgetting or ignoring, so you should not be penalised in any way.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. How do you normally pay? Do you have last months statement? does it still have the bank giro credit slip on the bottom? could you use that to make a payment at a bank?0

If they won't tell you anything over the phone, or offer to send another statement to your address, why not pop into your local LLoyds?
If you don't bank with lloyds, take some proof of identity and ask them if they can access your account with Amex, or at least call for you while you are there.

Thanks to you all for replying! I've been waiting all day at work to get back home and see what advice there might be!
I usually post it as I found when I tried to log on I needed the four digit code on the front of the card(which I can't find!!!). Although I don't have the slip from last time I have spotted a customer service number, so I'll try that first, and then try the Lloyds Bank bit. Thanks everyone, much appreciated!Resolution:

hope you got through to them and got it sorted, it's worrying isn't it when you are trying to pay someone and can't. I had a major ta do with MBNA on a similar issue "24 hour service" but you can't speak to a human!0

Just to let those who replied know that eventually I managed to do this by ringing (and hanging on interminably!) the customer care number. Thankfully I dredged the various security questions/answers from the depths of my memory! Slight panic when was told my debit card wouldn't allow the payment, but fellow tried again and second time all went through, so assume he keyed in something incorrectly. Have since checked my balance and all is normal, so can stop worrying now. Thanks for your help.Resolution:

Amex is only like Visa or Mastercard - MBNA also issue Amez cards, as do I believe Capital One - Amex is just an alternative to the visa/mastercard networkNo Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Am bumping this myself, so you can see how late that statement was! (Generated 26th September, delivered 15th October! )And that's not last week's dispute is it? No wonder it wasn't where I expected to find it! I am more organised that I was beginning to think.
And now I'm spitting feathers over the wasted time and effort it's cost me. GRRRRRRRH!Resolution:
