Hi
Any help would be appreciated. We have just received a mortgage promise from Halifax. On the email it advises the next step is to arrange an appointment for a full mortgage application. It states all the documents we need to bring is proof of income I’m assuming this is payslips? Doesn’t request banks statements etc??

Yes payslips and P60's. Take the Bank Statements anyway.

Morning Ang
Some lenders don't actually review bank statements, as they take what is on the application form as gospel. They also use ONS data as the basis for their outgoing assessment. Halifax being one of them.
Have you spoke to a broker to ensure that Halifax is actually the best mortgage for you? Sounds like you've just applied directly to Halifax.I am a Mortgage Broker.

Hi thanks for the info. Yes have spoken to a broker for an intital appointment having dealt with him before. The top two we’re Santander and Halifax. I have then went directly as needed a promise quickly. Santander declined and Halifax accepted?0

So are you now dumping your broker after using his knowledge to find you the lender who would be able to help and going with the lender directly? So the broker have worked for free for you?
This is exact reason why I am very reluctant to tell the customers who is the lender before we are well in to the application process.0 -
After using his knowledge that I could have found out online myself anyway? The amount he advised we were likely able to borrow was the exact amount we got a mortgage promise for. Just out of interest why use a broker when you can do it yourself? Thanks anyway for your comments.0

I know how to change a lightbulb, does that make me an electrician?

No I’m pretty sure that means you can change a lightbulb
Wow some really ignorant people here. Clearly both brokers0 -
The most ignorant broker would appear to be the one that allowed you to use them in this way.
Good luck with the Halifax team. Enjoy the in Branch meeting.I am a Mortgage Broker

Sorry but I think this is wrong too (and I’m not a broker). It’s like walking into a small local shop, trying loads of things on and then buying them somewhere cheaper online. Plus you have then come here asking questions that your broker would have answered for you.0
