UKPC 'fine'

Disabled bay full at MacDonald's on the roundabout at Drakehause Retail Outlets.. Saw cars parked alongside footpath, to left, on road when exiting. NO yellow lines, NO obvious 'Private Road' signs or 'NO Parking' signs
Displayed Blue Badge and got ticket issued within 15 minutes of parking for £100
UKPC sign on wall of car park opposite looked same as those inside until reading small print which said this was private road belonging to UKPC
Sent appeal as this cannot be a fine if on Private land.It is an invoice. I did no damage and I did not obstruct and I displayed Blue Badge.

Did it actually say the road belonged to UKPC?

Looks like you have admitted to being the driver to the PPC. If not then edit your op to remove details of who was driving

Don't do anything else now till you have read and understood the Newbies faq thread near the top of the forum.

Blue badges don't necessarily count in car parks - Google it and read up on when you can use your blue badge

Service providers are obliged to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act to disabled people to allow them to park close to where they want to be, thus the existence of Blue Badfges.

Do you consider that the PPC has therefore acted in accordance with the law in this instance? Read this

  • I've just re-read the UKPC notice...it states: This is Private land managed by UKPC
  • I wasn't in the car park I was parked on a road.
Too late now - I responded with an appeal - too frazzled by death in family to have this on my mind too BUT I was parked on a road alongside a public footpath. I have told them I am prepared to go to court with photographic evidence of lack of sign and no yellow lines. The only sign was on the wall of the car park across the main road (With Zebra Crossing) from where I parked, stating in tiny print that this is a private road. NO Private Road signs anywhere.

This is a retail park the roads resemble public roads but will be private, you are now in PPC land where anything goes.
They are scammers, they will use blue badges as an excuse when it suits them, and reject them when it suits them
E.g. they want them displayed in disabled bays (even though they are not valid on private land), and they deny they are valid on their double yellow lines.

You should be at the Popla stage now and should be able to stuff them if you are careful. Streetview shows the usual rubbish signage for example. Read the newbies thread and compile an appeal, the regulars will help, and we hate PPC'S targeting blue badge holders, who they target for their vulnerability!
  • Thanks to all for help and advice. I had written to appeal ( sent Recorded delivery)and pointed out there were no road markings and no signs my side of the road and that the sign across the road was on the carp park wall and looked like those inside the car park. Nowhere did it show 'Private Road' signs. I was prepared to go to court with photographs of where I parked, my disabled badge displayed showing 12, 30 and a copy of the ticket showing the first spotting time was the same time as the ticket was issued ,(1.15) taken by my daughter. I have heard no more.

Have you received a formal rejection of your appeal by UKPC?

Did they provide a 10-digit POPLA code in their rejection letter?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
