So who else loves parkrun?

Couldn't see a thread on here, but apologies if there is. Who takes part regularly in parkrun? I only started in November 2016, apart from once in 2012, when my number didn't scan :( So far I have taken part in 32 parkruns and volunteered 15 times.

I love it to bits, even though I can't run or get to one for the volunteering yet - a colleague got his century & was delighted that I recognised this as a solid almost two years devoted achievement & we went on to celebrate his 250th run last month on a training course in Scotland with a curry & a pitcher of IrnBru.

I'm just a supporter, but anything that encourages people to get up & run, at nine in the morning, on a *Saturday* has to be awesome!

You can walk Dig for Victory, you could volunteer to be Tail Walker and kill two birds with one stone :)

My kids do the Junior one most weekends. It really is excellent and well run. They love having the information of how they did emailed after the event.

Anything to get people running or walking has got to be a good thing. I tried it for a few weeks last year but don't like running or walking in a crowd or group. Also seemed pointless getting in the car to go to the Leisure Centre to the start, then drive back again, when I could do the distance just as easily starting from my front door.

A new one has recently started closer to home, I could walk there, but I haven't yet tried it.

For those who like group activities the Park Run is great.

    I love skip diving.

  • Me, I love it. I am very proud of my newly acquired 50 t-shirt! I like that it's friendly when you want it to be, without being too in your face. I have taken nearly 10 minutes off my time since my first parkrun 2 years ago. 32 in a year Barny1979 - that's dedicated!

I agree that it seems a bit mad to drive down to a run although the change of scenery is nice. Now that I am a lot fitter I am thinking about running there and back too, but at 13 miles total (including the parkrun itself) that still seems a little bit too hardcore.

I am evangelical about parkrun and recommend it far and wide. Anyone reading this and considering it - just give it a try!

Yep love it, although a year of injuries means I'm not able to take part at the mo. I volunteer most Saturdays instead, which can be just as fun :)

I cycle down to mine! its just shy of 5 miles each way, and when I'm running makes a good warm up, and when I'm volunteering means I still get some exercise in!

I sometimes run down to my local one. Its come out at around 15 miles as a round trip including the parkrun.
I've just got my 50 t-shirt (done 63 I think now) with 21 volunteer roles including 2 as Run director.
