I predict it will last a lot longer than a single day - it's getting to be a bit silly with the initial 'one day of bargains', as in the US, now lasting for 2 or more weeks.

So it's actually just another excuse for a sale where the prices are often more during this period than they are at other times of the year. I may be cynical but it's always been more hype than substance and just another opportunity for retailers to attempt to fleece us. Last year seemed to be a bit of a damp squib so let's hope the consumers are getting wise to their trickery and manipulation and the whole idea of Black Friday fizzles out.

Personally I think it's another of those things that we really shouldn't have imported from the US. Life was better without it.

Every time I log onto TopCashback to get a link for Ebay (they pay 1% cashback) the page title on the tab reads "Black Friday" so I'd guess the cashback sites or TCB at least will be doing something. I'm guessing maybe 0.5 or maybe even 5% extra.

I'm yet to be wowed by anything I've seen on BlackFriday aside from the fist fighting.

Isn't this just like all those pointless discussions that take place just before major financial events such as the budget?

Everybody wastes hours and hours with pointless and groundless predictions, most of which prove wrong, and by the time the main even comes along everyone's bored silly with it.

    Why not just wait?

or general elections! It's a complete waste of everyone's time to try and predict the outcome of anything because it is usually... nearly always...wrong.

    Just look at history.

It's only October, Black Friday is (thankfully) weeks away so what is the point of discussing it now.
