Old Pension, what can i do with it

Hi,

Just looking for some advice. Wifey took out a pension years ago, paid some money into but didnt use it once she started a proper job and received a work pension.

we just got the statement and dont know what our options are

There are 2x Parts
Non Protected - that has around 3k in it - not a large amount but would come in handy

Protected - Something about opting out of state 2nd pension.

The advice we are looking for is this.

Can we get at the money in the "non protected" or is it destined to bring us an extra £5 a month in 30 years?

And

should she opt back into the state 2nd pension?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

  • Just done some searching, and it looks like its locked in there till the bitter end!

Oh well, i suppose the projected £15 a month will buy a tin of beans for us to heat on our single lump of coal in 30 years.....:rotfl:
