Mortgage overpayments

Options
Hi, does anyone have a mortgage with nationwide? Have you been overpaying to reduce your term? Don't rely on mortgage calculator or nationwide advisor! I have overpayed £16,000 and it has only reduced the term by 2yr,9mth! They offered me £200 as way of opology!
Waiting for ombudsman to give me their decision! Call nationwide and ask when the term will be finished?

  • What do you expect to come from your complaint to the FOS?

What are is your outstanding mortgage balance, monthly payments, rate and original term - there's someone on the board who will be able to do the maths for you.
  • Hi. All the repayments, etc have been done by nationwide! They have finally admitted they are wrong! and payed us £200 as an apology! But we didn't accept! Just wanted to let others with nationwide to check for themselves!
  • Without context your post is meaningless. You have not explained exactly what has gone wrong or why Nationwide are to blame. Or why you have referred it to the FOS (you must have a reason even if it is a desire for more compensation?). Hence, I don't see how you expect your post to help anyone else.

There is a Praise, Vents & Warnings board if all you want to do is rant.
  • Nationwide said that if you overpay a minimum £100pm for 5yrs it reduces the mortgage by 2 yrs! We have overpayed £250 pm for 5yrs and it has reduced by 2yrs 9months! So overpaying £100pm for 5yrs equals £6000!a further
£10,000 has reduced it by 9months!
Point1 it was to let anyone overpaying to check if their redemption date is correct!
Point 2 they have admitted wrong information given!
Point3 the FOS is your only way forward with a complaint!
