Internet Radio Bargain

Aldi have reduced the price of their Tevion Internet Radio to £54.99. It was a bargain at its original price - I don't think many knew what it did so it has not sold well. I recommended one to a friend and he is delighted with it. I'm now upset as my Internet radio cost 3 times the price and does not have built in FM!

Just to clarify, as I understand it a true 'internet radio' (like the Tevion and the Logik) uses an existing wireless network to establish it's own connection with the internet, so the PC doesn't need to be on for it to receive radio streams.
I found this out to my cost after I'd bought a BT Media Player, which will play radio streams and also audio content stored on a PC, but it needs the PC to be on all the time to work - it's not independant from it, which wasn't what I was after. Then again, it was only £25, and it has got an FM tuner too, so I've stuck it in the kitchen.
I don't know about the Tevion, but £40 for the Logik is a good price.0 -
Yeah, the Logik doesn't need a PC. All you need is a wireless router or access point with an internet connection... it can also do other things like access a samba shared directory to play music locally, but that's not the main feature.0

Quick question - does the medion stream in Stereo? It looks like the Logix only has one speaker, ie mono...
...now that would be a big difference.0 -

I got mine off eBay for £25 including delivery: http://search.ebay.co.uk/logik-internet-radio_W0QQfrppZ50QQfsopZ1QQmaxrecordsreturnedZ300
It works really well, although I did have to change my router from WEP to WPA to get it to work. Other than that it's great0 -
Basically you can get any radio station that is available here: https://www.reciva.com/
This is better than DAB as it can download podcasts and listen again items as on the BBC site as well as stream music off your PC.0 -

above link gives a good assessment of the Aldi Tevion vs Logik IR100 & seems to give the Logik IR100 the seal of approval...so now to discover the cheapest way to acquire it...0 -

Opted for the Logik as I didn't need FM and it was cheaper and got it today. Up and running within 10 minutes of opening the box.
I love this already. Tuned in to Triple J as I loved this station when I lived in Sydney as my first try. Bit of buffering then perfect. Next I tuned in to yesterday's episode of The Archers again perfect.
Both without my computer turned on - great
Thanks very much to OP for bringing this to my attention, even though I went for an alternative.
I think this will change my life (well, my radio listening life, at least).0
