It's difficult to work out who called at the house - it doesn't sound like bailiffs, but could well be.

Firstly, do NOT allow anyone who calls in to your house. If you have a door chain, USE IT. You do NOT have to let bailiffs in, but once you do, they have future right of entry and can enter by an open door/window.

How long since you saw the CAB? Chase them up on Monday, tell them what's happened.

In the meantime, have a look here. It tells you about the whole process of negotiating with your creditors. You could even give them a call freephone 0808 808 4000

    Hi,

I would write to them again, explaining you're circumstances offering the money you have from family member, and offer to pay as much a month as you can realisticly afford,

hopefully they'll appreciate the offer, and its better for them if they can get the money back, even if it is in small installments. best of luck.

I wouldn't offer them the money that family have offered you as you will still need to pay this back to the family member.

Get in touch with CAB again as suggested or one of the other FREE help agencies and they will be able to negotiate a reasonable monthly payment for you.

The link already given to you gives loads of advice and well worth looking at.

the bailiffs cannot come round with out the debt going to court. Its a debt collector and they have to abide by rules of collection set bythe OFT if they are being nasty, making claims such as they will reposses stuff when they cant then complain.

Go back to the CAB they will contact the collectors for you and reassure you that this is sadly normal for you to be harrassed/pressured/panicked by collectors for debt.

    DONT WORRY
