New job, being paid monthly on 25th how much will I get on my first pay?

Hello all,

I have a quick question I have only ever had jobs that pay on 31st but my new job pays on 25th.

I started on 2nd October will I get paid for the full month on 25th or just 3 weeks as that is all I have worked.

I am very confused. Thank you

No one here can say for certain - at a guess I would say, you'd be paid the whole month but I could be wrong.

The only way to find the true answer is to ask your employer.

When I worked in a company with a similar pay date I got paid for the whole month.


But as tizerbelle has said your company may a different policy

Depends on your company.


A lot of employers may pay on the 25th or the last Friday of the month etc. but pay staff for the whole month.


I also do payroll for a company that pays on the 1st of each month but are for hours worked from the 25th to the 24th of each month.


Only your employer can truly answer the question.

If it's a regular company, in an office-style role, it's most likely you'd be paid up to the 31st.

If it's a more manual/low-paid type of role, it's likely it'd be until either the 25th or something like "up to the previous Friday".

We get paid on the 23rd of every month for the whole month. So September's pay was on the 23rd but it covered the entire of September. It's always worth asking HR though.

Yes, I agree with the above. You should get paid for the whole month. Maybe ask your boss as some companies work differently to others.

Have you got your contract of employment yet? If you have it should be in that although I appreciate that many companies now think it is acceptable not to give their employees a contract for some time.

Also make sure you get any requested documents submitted ASAP: our deadline for submissions to payroll this month is very early next week.

10 years ago this week I started as a Monday 1st Oct with a payday noted as 28th.

You need to ask if you've not already - as for a few seconds on that first day, head of accounts believed I wouldn't get paid until the following month. Thankfully he was wrong.

Only that company can confirm it's wage process.

I get paid on 24th for four weeks. Two weeks prior and 2 weeks after.
