5. A limited number of Google Cardboard glasses will also be available via the Guardian website at https://www.theguardian.com/vr. To request your free pair of Google Cardboard glasses this way, simply fill in the online form at https://www.theguardian.com/vr, providing all requested contact details, between 07 October 2017 and 23:59 on 8 October 2017 (the “Online Giveaway Period”).

6. A total of 6500 pairs of Google Cardboard glasses will be available to be claimed as described in paragraph 4 of these Terms and Conditions above. These pairs of Google Cardboard glasses will be given away on a first come, first served basis.

7. When all 6500 pairs of glasses have been claimed as described in paragraph 5 above, the Online Giveaway Period will be over. If all 8,500 pairs of glasses have not been claimed by the end of the Online Giveaway Period, the Online Giveaway Period will be extended for two weeks until all pairs of glasses have been claimed.

8. All pairs of Google Cardboard glasses claimed as described in paragraph 4 will be dispatched to claimants by 09 November 2017.

It looks like they've changed the terms since sarah1972 posted this.

They are now saying 8,700 pairs will be included in printed editions of The Guardian (you're not guaranteed to get one if you buy the paper.)

1,000 pairs will also be made available to Guardian subscribers (instructions of how to claim will be emailed to subscribers)

6,500 pairs will made available to all via the website. It now says they will extend the claim period if 6,500 pairs are not claimed by Sunday.

Thanks for the update, I will amend my op from 8500 to 6500.

I received a pair of these but discovered I'm unable to use them for their designed purpose as, while I have an Android phone I don't have one which runs on Android 7.0 or one that can be upgraded to 7.0.
