PVC Cladding (Bangor Area)

Can anybody offer any recommendations or warnings for companies that do PVC cladding (soffits, fascias, downpipes etc.). Have got a quote from HHI, have appointment with Budget and would like to get maybe 2 more?

Thanks
Ivan

Good luck with HHI Ivan, had a quote for them in the thousands:eek:  for a 3 bedroom semi with 2 dormer window needing cladding too. HHI where by far the most expensive quote, ended up using a small local firm from Sion Mills called A1, myself and my connected neighbour got it do at the same time too saving a few more quid (very mse;) )

Worked out to be £1,000 each all in for soffit, facia, spouting and cladding to dormers as well and an absolute A1 job it was too, he has since done my Parents, Grandmothers and Father in Laws houses too;)

Don't know if he will go as far as Bangor but worth asking anyway, and get quotes from a lot of firms and play them off against each other as always:rotfl: I'm sure your an expert at that by now Ivan:rotfl:

I'll be keeping an ey on this post as I too am considering getting this done (in Bangor). My neighbour (attached) got their 3 bed semi done last year by HHI (Soffits, facias, 3 dormers & no spouting) whilst I don't know how much they paid, HHI called with us & asked would we like ours done at the same time for only £1800
  • You could try ABBA windows in Dundonald. I used them recently and I found them very competitive. Their fitters did a neat job and cleaned afterwards. They also did my windows a few years ago, and it was a good job.

We have now got 4 quotes from HHI, Budget, SFG and Proclad. The SGF was the most expensive (£1800) with the others all being in the £1500-£1550 mark (although the budget chap mentioned about it being cheaper if you paid in cash?). So it now all depends on which salesman DW liked best or if I hear any horror stories about any of these companies.

Don't know about your area (I live in the sticks) but when I did mine I bought the materials and paid 2 joiners/builders (reputable small outfit I'd used before) a daily rate for fitting.

It worked out a lot cheaper; total for house (4 bedroom semi), extensions (side & rear) carport & 2 sheds was about £1350 IIRC; about £300 cheaper than my neighbour paid a 'proper' firm of specialists less than 18 months later for just the house.

10 years ago the house behind mine got white pvc cladding .
My next door neighbour said "just wait and watch ,it will turn pink ".Guess what, it did turn pink .
It seems the fitter used windowsill and not proper cladding .

So how do you no you are getting proper cladding when its 20 feet from the ground .

In our case it came down to HHI and Proclad. Proclad were slightly more expensive (£50) and they seemed to want extra for airvents ... it wasn't much but it is all money. it also looks like HHI use a more robust system that goes under the first row of tiles (I can understand the principle, but have no idea if it makes that much of a difference).

From looking at the job done on other peoples houses I have no doubt that both would do a very good job ... in the end we have gone with HHI and hope to have it fitted before Christmas ... will let you know what we think once completed)

Good luck with them Ivan, I had an HHI quote but the local man was cheaper and could do it a lot sooner than HHI could. Turned out to be a first class job anyway:T

Let us know how it turns out Ivan
