Back on Track

Hi Everybody,

I have been on and off these boards now for years. We have been up and down with debt recently as hubby lost his job & struggled to get one with a similar salary. I have since got a job with a similar salary and he has now got a job to fit around mine so we pay for no childcare & he also helps with run my business. It has been hard work with me working 50-60hrs per week every week since March but we have paid off over 2K since August, we have managed to save over 1K and we are paying off the debt every month! I have upgraded our sky package as I wanted some form of enjoyment for the family after years of scrimping. It wouldnt have been possible to get this far without all the help on these boards :-)

Thanks

Well done getting back on track. To be honest I would not have upgraded Sky until the debt was paid off. However, totally understand why you would want to. What extra did you go for?
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
  • We were paying £25 pm for internet & line rental only. Now we get all channels and movies (no sports), internet, calls for £40.40 and sky go extra (in effect multiroom). Only an extra £15.40 pm for all that - we have no luxuries whatsoever so it is good for the kids and us to have movies etc to watch. Makes paying the debt off a little more tolerable. :-)
