Foam insulation

Someone at work told me they have had foam insulation fitted and rave about it
The stuff in our attic is 10 years old and not sure it's really doing much done like the idea of my money leaking out of the house
Wondering if anyone has had it done my dad used to say houses need to breathe but there again he also said leaving lights on was better than turning them on and off
Looking around all the nah sayers have not had it done the ones that have are chuffed
Any thoughts good or bad pls
