Equitable Life Pension

Options
I'm trying to help my brother-in-law who now lives in Spain. He has found an Equitable Life Annual Statement from 2014 showing pot of about £20k in Unit Linked Retirement Investments. There appears to be nothing in the With Profits.
I've offered to try and track this down for him but before I call Equitable, wondering if anyone knows if this pension would have been transferred to Halifax or might be able to offer some insight on where to start looking!
I'm hoping that we will be able to find and rescue something for him.
Thanks.

The obvious solution is to contact Equitable Life in Aylesbury (03301591530). But they are unlikely to provide *you* with any information - indeed, would you really expect them to take instructions from any random stranger who calls them!

However, if you can quote the policy number and they have your brother-in-law's current address (in Spain) on their files, they may post an updated Annual Statement direct to him. That's probably the best you can hope for.

Equitable Life's unit-linked funds are now managed by Standard Life Aberdeen (Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life merged this year).

You need to approach Equitable though for valuations etc or use the links below.

Don't they have phones and internet in Spain?
Unless you pretend to be him, (and they believe you), they wont be talking to you.

Yes, they do have phones and the internet in Spain but my brother-in-law suffers from mental health issues and finds it very difficult to resolve these sorts of things, which is why I'm trying to find out some info for him. I've no intention of pretending to be him.

I think the first thing you need to do is find out from Equitable Life what your brother needs to do to enable you to deal with the company on his behalf.
