Wanting to do a master's, but hesitant

I have a place on an MSc in Public Health or an MA in Special Needs and Inclusion. I am reading a lot of negative things about public health degrees and how saturated the market is. Does anyone have any advice or firsthand experience with this degree?

I'm not sure how valuable the Special Needs and Inclusion degree would be, as it's not a teaching degree. I would have to do that after the degree if I want to teach.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

they're two very different fields, is the MSc in public health an MPH?

I certainly wouldn't do a masters for the sake of doing a masters

If you're not sure which one to do, why are are planning to do either of them? I did an MBA a few years ago and enjoyed it but do wish I'd done something more specialist or individual to me.

I think learning for any reason is fine; it doesn't necessarily have to be part of your career planning but it is a big investment and you will need a solid reason to keep you motivated in the darker hours. But doing it just for the badge isn't a great reason.

I'm not doing it for the badge at all. I'm hesitant with the public health degree because of the director of the program and because of the negative things I read about job prospects.

I'm thinking about doing neither and applying for Speech Therapy starting 2018. I already have some undergrad courses in it.

Sarastro, I also feel like I should do something specialist. It seems like that's what gets people hired anymore.

Oh no. I've just registered on a MPH course (distance learning). I was led to believe there were plenty or jobs and areas to go into. I am working FT in the NHS but in a different sector.
What bad things have you heard?

I was told that the MPH is the same as the Masters. It even says MSc on my offer.

Have you looked around at the jobs your aiming for to see if they require these degrees? Can you ask anyone already in the industry you want to work in their advice?
I've just started an MA but mines is very industry specific and will lead to a job as they all require it.
