I'm coming to the end of my existing contract with BT which has not exactly been value for money and the actual performance of the server has at times been poor.
My current broadband costs around £50 per quarter with BT, does anyone know of any better packages available in NI that are cheaper and offer a good service?

Try www.ADSL24.co.uk.
Great Customer Service. If things go wrong, which they do with all suppliers, you will find out within minutes and you will be updated as the problem is fixed.
There was a problem in NI recently. This is the link informing customers. http://noc.enta.net/?p=212
Did any other suppliers do this? Would be interested to know.Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
I'm a happy sky customer on the mid package at £5 per month - quote as being a 5.5mb line but actual is 3mb with a 40gb cap
For £10 a month you'll get Max which is uncapped.0 -

ADSL seems a little bit expensive I was hoping for a cheaper package after BT without compensating quality if thats possible.0 -
I too am on the £5 sky package. I have found it very reliable, actually better than the £18 virgin package I was on. It came with a free wireless router. I think connection was £30. Obviously you would need to have sky and there is a 12 month contract - so you are stuck with sky tv as well for 12 months.0

The cheap sky is currently limited to very few areas in Northern Ireland.
Expect to see full coverage in around 12 months time.
Eprimus are very good. £23.99 including 8 meg unlimited broadband, line rental and free landline calls after 6/weekends. 0800 customer service and all round good company imo. The broadband is completely unlimited, no cap, no fair usage policy. Anywhere else your looking £60+ for this.

Have a good read of the site named by micheline above http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings.php
and take you decision from there. The comments made by customers are the best indicator of an ISP's performance.
A friend of mine is with Orange and complained about the service all of the time. When I checked the dslzone site comments from other customers confirmed what he said.
If you are a regular user the frustration caused by poor service is much more than an extra few pounds per month:beer:Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
Just switched from BT to Sky. For a fiver a month (mid) package it's unbelievably good value for money compared to BT. I am some distance from my exchange and rarely got over 1.3-1.4MB on the line - I am now consistently getting 2.1-2.3. The Sky email sucks, but I can live with that.0
