Mortgage surveyor has been cancelled

Hi there,
I posted a few days ago about my house sale.
Sold my house subject to contract only.
I have now appointed a solicitor etc and signed to commit to this as my buyer had arranged a mortgage surveyor.
Today I got a call from countrywide to say the mortgage surveyor has been cancelled, they could not tell me the reason why amd by the time I got the call my estate agents was shut.
Would you assume the buyer has changed their mind and wish to pull out the property. I'm going to be straight on the phone tomorrow but I won't be able to sleep tonight worrying about it as now I'm already incurring costs.
Could there be any other reason the mortgage survey would be cancelled?

Surveyor is ill?0

Buyers have decided to go with a different mortgage company?0

We had to ask for the survey to be cancelled on the house we're buying, because the mortgage company had chosen the surveyor, but the surveying company were closely linked the estate agent we were buying the house through (same name and web links to each other). No potential conflict of interest there then... :rotfl:
I don't know how common that is, but it might be a possibility...0 -
I just find it odd as the appointment was only made yesterday and then cancelled today, appointment wasn't until Saturday and no mention of rearranging.0

Yes. Exactly what I would be thinking.0 -
Perhaps the surveyor was unable to gain access on Saturday.0

Eh? I've read it as that the OP's buyer's surveyor (i.e. the person coming to survey the OP's house) has been cancelled. How can the surveyor not access the OP's house on Saturday without the OP not knowing?0 -
Oops....

Yes I'm the seller. The buyers instructed their mortgage surveyor who called me and asked could it be done Saturday as a surveyor was already in the area, I accepted appointment for Saturday, so no access issues. Then today they called to say the surveys been cancelled but they can't say why0

Yes, it's possible that the buyers have changed their mind.
It's also possible that the surveyor was double booked, or that the buyers originally wanted a basic valuation and now want a more detailed survey, or that whoever booked the appointment in made a mistake and the surveyor was never available in the first place.
But the most obvious reason is probably the buyers having second thoughts. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
