Possible investigation case

I made a mistake at work and I did not realise I made a mistake until the next day. I had no official word but it could mean an investigation and sacked for gross misconduct. I am worried about the possible investigation but also worried about getting the sack and my chances of getting another job afterwards.

Well what did you do and have you corrected it?
Keeping quiet wont help, especially if it's going to come to light0 -
Are you absolutely certain that the mistake constitutes gross professional misconduct? We all make mistakes at work sometimes.0

Assuming that the mistake is likely to come to light at some time, your best course of action is probably to speak to your manager, explain about the mistake (and, if appropriate, what you have done to correct it / mitigate the effects)
What was the mistake? Most employers can distinguish between actual mistakes and misconduct - hiding a mistake may well be more of an issue than having made it in the first place. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. But.....
Did you lie about it, or try to cover it up?
Have you made it, or similar mistakes lots of times before?
How basic an error was it to have got wrong/made in the first place?
You're either worrying about nothing, or have more to worry about than a single error.0
