Or a highly efficient way of spreading Chinese whispers and anxiety!
A matter of opinion there, based on fear of something new, which I don't share! Having done numerous previous house sales, having actual contact to ask basic questions like "has the surveyor been over yet?" or "which dates work for you?" is so much easier than the historic system of asking every question through a middle man & waiting weeks for a response often. Its not like we're stalking each-other lol. I have heard from our buyers 2 or 3 times since we sale agreed, & the sellers twice. It has helped to move things along & prevent "Chinese whispers & anxiety" because we are actually communicating & not second guessing! As I said, each to their own. Some embrace modern technology, some do not, no rights & wrongs, we all have our own preferences!0 -

I embrace modern technology more than you know, and wouldn't dream of texting anyone up or down the chain. So it's nothing to do with that. Solicitor's not the middle man, he's the only man I need to communicate with, not some random who can't manage money to the extent that they missed mortgage payments. And you're anxious enough to be on here asking for advice on someone else's chances of getting a mortgage in your chain, which you wouldn't be if you weren't texting them. Ignorance is bliss, but now you have something else to worry about.Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. Credit to my mortgage broker0 -
I don't see what you would have to be embarrassed about. I suffer with severe anxiety & im not embarrassed a bit. Sensible 2017 way to push things along in my opinion. Each to their own I suppose!
Never lose sight of the fact that this is a business transaction. Other parties are not your mates. With so many factors in play. The situation can rapidly become very stressful.0 -

If thats your opinion fine. As I said, each to their own. I never said I was in touch with the people who missed a mortgage payment btw. I don't second guess or make assumptions.0 -

Im not. No worries on that score. My only interest is my house sale & purchase & making the process as easy as possible. Im enjoying the ease of being able to use a little modern technology in what is still an otherwise pretty antiquated system which hasn't altered a great deal since I first bought a property 20 years ago.

Update. Spoke to the estate agent today, who has confirmed that the buyers buyers broker is now looking to get them an agreement in principle with another lender, hopefully tomorrow, but he'll keep us fully updated. Apparently they had only one delayed payment on the previous mortgage, not a number of them. They have also looked at the prospective lenders rates & are happy with them. Hopefully we will get some positive news in the next few days. The fact that everyone is not in a huge rush to move things along is good to know!0
