GHD not repaired and no replacement

Hi i have heard alot about the GHD customer service and how they are likey to repair faulty GHD or even replace them, even if they are out of its warrenty period.

I received a letter saying that mine cannot be repaired and whenI rang them they said I will need to pay £10 for p&p and handling fee if I want the straightners back or they will dispose them.

My strightner fell and broke but worked fine, I think it just had a little loose wire which did turn off now and then.

Basicly its gona cost me £15 alltogether sending it out to them and not having anything done about it. Waste of my money.

I sent 2 pairs back. One they replaced, they other they kept. It cost me money to send them & money to have them returned, bloody liberty.

    I did post a thread somewhere, http://http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=532712&highlight=ghd

My daughters stopped working for no apparent reason 10 days before the warranty ran out! I sent them off right quick, obviously paying for recorded delivery, and about a week later they sent me a brand new pair - I was most impressed :T

I sent a set away to get repaired and was told they could not be fixed and they did not do that model anymore. I was told to ring a number and quote the letter refernce number to get a special discount. The special discount worked out at less than 10% and they did not send beck my old ones. I have now no straighteners, paid for them to be posted over by recorded delivery and been offered a discount to buy them direct at significantly more than they cost on e bay.

A great customer serice-I think not!

I'm surprised to hear this, I've had two sets replaced, both were over 12 months old.
Both times I emailed them, they told me to return them and I had new ones within 5 days.

I rang them again today, talkin about how good i hear their service is blah blah blah and if they could lower the p&p or if I was to send in a return envelope thingy, but I was let down again and I told them to just dispose the straightners.

Its a shame as they did kinda work.
  • If anyone has any broken GHDs and doesn't know what to do with them, rather than just throw them away try selling them "as broken, not working" on Ebay. Someone else told me about this and I managed to get £35 (I had the box and instructions etc.) for my broken ones on Ebay. (Didn't even bother ringing GHD as they were over a year old.)

Apparently, some of them are easy to repair so people buy them broken and then sell them on as reconditioned.
