It wasn't unusual for an independent* financial advisor to be based in an estate agents office. Is the IFA's name not on the paperwork? I can't find any record of that EA ever offering financial services, although online records from so long ago are limited.

For what reason do you feel the endowment was missold?

Honestly, I can't see you getting anywhere with this.

    (* Independent of the EA.)

the endowment was with may, Whetter & grose, there still active, however state there an estate agency, and the "financial advisor" shared a office, however all the relevant paper work is headed paper with May, Whetter & Grose printed on it.
I was thinking more about the provider of the endowment. i.e the insurer. It would let us know if its one that does the timebar.

The FSCS use the timebar if its valid.
They've never contacted between time of taking out and the mortgage being paid off

They wouldnt do unless he was paying them to provide for ongoing servicing (and that is unlikely on a mortgage endomwent).
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Its not for me, on behalf of my Partner Father, was talking to him the other day and he mentioned it, said i would look into it for him.

So what is his complaint and why has he waited 26 years?

What exactly did your partner's father 'mention' to you? Why does he think the endowment policy was mis-sold?

He was saying how when he retired he used his pension to pay off mortgage, i asked why and he said was told endowment would not be enough to pay it off. It would of surpassed his retirement age by 5 years as well.
