My daughters and I both have lowish VitB12 levels, DD1 being low enough that she self-injects regularly.
She has become rather a crusader for B12, tending to attribute all sorts of things to low levels, as it is undoubtedly true that many doctors do not think of it as a cause and are reluctant to do the loading injection you describe which will definitively determine if that is the problem. It is a cheap product, and pretty well impossible to overdose on, so there is really no reason not to at least consider it, especially for otherwise unusually low levels of energy, brain fog, peripheral neuropathy, etc.
My 96 yr old Aunt also has 3-monthly injections, and you can really tell - I get a 'new' Aunt every 3 mths !
The levels that are considered normal in the UK, would be thought of as low in eg Japan - so there is no real consensus.

The clothing suggestions sound perfect for you, CBC, I do understand you want to get the 'tone' right for a funeral.

Thanks very much for the PA information:T. It looks like a lot of people in your immediate family have it:(. I wonder whether there's a genetic element to it? I only knew of one person who had it and that was a former work colleague who had lots of other health issues too. I'd never realised before that it was so prevalent but I've read lots about it since. Sending all best wishes to you and your family members:kisses3:.

The reason I've been stressing about my funeral garb is that my friend's husband was real 'old school' when it came to funerals. He couldn't get his head round the fact that people used to attend funerals in bright clothing, football shirts and the like, even though the deceased had requested it. He wanted a traditional 'black' funeral so that's what we're all doing. I also suspect the hymns and music will be very solemn. I doubt we'll be listening to 'My Way' or 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life';)

I won't be on here again to bore you with my rabbiting until this evening:o. Have a good day, everyone:beer:

  • Fingers crossed for you at the funeral. I know the first one I attended after a family bereavement unlocked a well of grief. Apparently that's normal so be kind to yourself.

  • What we do have in common, HH, apart from some nice things:j, is stress. You have far more than me as I haven't a family to worry about providing for but we both have the worry about lack of money. At the time you were ill you still had overwhelming debts hanging over you and there's not much else in life more stressful than that.

It's true that big debts are enormously stressful :(. I had a healthy lifestyle most of my life, like you I think I have naturally healthy tastes.

But after my sister died of cancer four years ago, and that coincided with DS2's mental illness kicking off, plus our business getting hit by the recession, plus the ever present big debts, I felt so depressed and stressed that I started drinking cider every night, plus stress eating chocolate/cakes etc. It was comfort eating. So I put on two stone. The antidepressants didn't help as they seemed to increase my appetite and made me feel sleepy :(.

Anyway that led to my health check and new healthy lifestyle. I realised that cutting down on sugar and alcohol, and going for long walks was a far better way of coping with stress. After a year of healthy living I was able to come off the anti depressants too :T.

I hope you get on all right at the funeral today Carboot. I'll be thinking of you. I think I'm a bit old fashioned about funerals. I always wear black unless specifically told not to.

Hi Nicnak :). I'm still full of cold so I'm trying to rest again today. It's a shame because it's a lovely sunny day but I don't feel up to a walk. My sinuses are blocked with unmentionable gunge and I feel headachey and exhausted :(.

I've done a few surveys. I'm up to £8.10 on OP and on PA will have £11 once they're all approved :T. All money towards my clothes horse.

I thought I'd make a few Christmas lists like food, cards, presents etc. Then I can try and pick up the odd thing now and again. I'm determined to go to Mr T tomorrow, so I'll look out for any reduced Christmas treats there.

DS3 will be home for Christmas in a month :T. It feels like ages since I've seen him and I miss him :(.

It is indeed a lovely sunny day, and such a shame to be all blocked up and not able to enjoy it properly. Hopefully the sun comes in the right places to help warm your house.

PA has had several £1+ surveys recently - yay !!

Picking up oddments when you see them is an excellent idea. Can I be really cheeky and suggest you don't pick up ANYTHING that isn't on an 'approved' list. It's all too easy to pick up a pile of enticing reduced-price bits of this'n that, that then have no designated home, and whilst eating them up after Xmas is a delight, it's an unnecessarily expensive one - how do I know this !!!!

I miss DD1 MORE when I see her because it's more immediate and obvious what I'm missing.

I've had two PA surveys just today :T.

You're right that I must be careful not to buy Christmas treats just for the sake of it. DH loves food and Christmas food in particular, so he will be delighted with any Christmas food treats, especially as our diet is fairly spartan the rest of the year :). The DC will also enjoy Christmas food treats, but I will be very careful not to over buy.

I am looking forward to having DS3 home for four whole weeks :T but will be very sad when he has to go back in January :(.
