Thanks Carboot. I do like working with children and it will make the build up to Christmas more enjoyable
.
DH left at 8.15am to drop the car off for it's MOT. I slept really badly last night because I was worried about how much it would cost probably. Also I often find myself thinking about my mum just before I drop off and then I feel wide awake
. DH woke up at 5am so he is obviously worried too
.
DH has a busy day as he also has a flu jab booked for lunchtime (along with DS2), so we're hoping the car will be finished by then.
I'm meeting my stepdad for coffee in town (he always insists on paying) and then I'll decide whether to go around the chaity shops or just come home. It depends upon how much the car will cost.
Have a good Saturday everyone. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

The actual MOT takes about 45 minutes but it depends what time they actually start it as to when DH will get it back. If anything needs doing does he plan to leave it there to get fixed?0 -
Thanks Cumbria

He's going to wait while they do the MOT, the garage reckons it will take an hour. Then if anything needs doing he'll have to see how long it might take. Our garage is in a village, so not amazingly convenient but we trust them. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

My regular garage usually takes 45 minutes but I think there's also a new emissions test or something that they have to do now, not the one they did before, so that may be why it's now an hour. I wasn't well this last time my car was MOTed and OH took it in for me so I've no idea how long it took.0 -
Our mechanic may be a bit vague about times

OH hates having to wait for things, he's so impatient:eek:. He never minds going to the MOT garage and waiting for the test to be done though because they have a massive TV on, comfy new seats in the waiting area and a coffee machine with free really nice coffee:rotfl:. It's only a rural garage but most people wait when the test is being done so they've made the facilities really nice for their customers:j.
I remember going to one place many years ago where the only thing to sit down on was a ripped old plastic-covered sofa in the corner of a tiny foyer full of cigarette smoke:eek:. I had to put up with it because it was absolutely teeming with rain outside. The longest 45 minutes of my life:(0 -

. Being massively in debt would certainly makes us feel worse right now.
I don't mind OBL. I can't drive either, another thing we have in common
.
We didn't have a car for three years as we couldn't afford one. But then two years ago DH's brother gave us a car that he didn't need and some money to tax/insure it. The trouble is we have to pay to run it now and cars are expensive. It's much easier for DH to get to meetings and to see customers if we do have a car though.
We got used to having the use of a car over the last two years because DDs boyfriend was living with us and he had one,now he's gone we are having to get used to not having one again,I have managed to sort out delivery for any heavy things I buy like my chicken food so I'm not missing it so much now,it is lovely to have the means to pop out to visit places as well,I got to visit Dartmoor over the summer because he took us but I won't be able to go now as public transport is too unreliable to get there
I find it frustrating that I live in such a beautiful place but can't get to see most of it
I do get on the train and got to Exmouth and Dawlish beaches though in the winter when the dog can go,she loves it on the beachOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8940 -
