. What's happening at your school? I would imagine most of your pupils would be considered vulnerable so are you staying open?

1) The school have said they need the list first of key workers (even though they know I am a teacher, where I teach, and my head teacher has sent them a letter saying I am desperately needed). It makes no sense that a school that has to open for vulnerable students and key workers is questioning another teacher who has to work with a whole cohort of vulnerable students.
2) They are also checking if both parents are supposed to be key workers. I am a single parent, have approached DDs dad who says he can't have her as his work isn't closed (he is not a key worker. Just something else that ends in 'ker' and also starts with a W).
So, in short. I am not sure what is happening. My childminder will have DD as she recognises I am a key worker (should the school say no). However, I will then be paying for full days childcare so an extra £400 for a month. My parents are ill, my sister has to self isolate so I am just wondering how this will work and how our students will be fed should none of us be able to get in. Thinking of you Hairy. It is a very scary time. xx

That sounds so ridiculous Nicnak. Hopefully the government will release the list of key workers soon. After all some families won't know yet if their children are going to school on Monday or not! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

. I don't think so. He doesn't pay business rates as he works from home. I don't think any of the measures are helping sole traders or self employed people.

I too am sorry about your news, HH, it's a worrying time. Just when you're beginning to get things together financially and then the totally unexpected occurs. None of us could be prepared for the scale of the effects.
It looks like DGS may have the virus, so DD2 is in quarantine with him In an ideal world they would both get it mildly. If that happened, they could happily visit us, she would make a tempting employee, (being in the process of interviews/application tests for a new job), and it would be 2 fewer people for us to fret about. I offered to bring anything I could leave outside the door, including a plague sign - she loved that idea !!!3 -
Thank you Elizabeth
. Yes things were finally looking up for us financially and then this happens. We've survived a lot of bad times so hopefully we can survive this too.
Oh dear I hope DGS will be okay. Children do tend to suffer milder symptoms than adults so that is encouraging. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
