New Job during Mortgage Offer

Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone had any advice regarding the title.
We've applied for a mortgage and its approved and we've received our offer, however we're still waiting for all the legal documentation to be sorted. I've been asked to go interview for another job, which is a job I've wanted for a while and it has a higher income, but my issue is, if I get the job offer can I accept it even though we're still in the legal stages of buying the house? Or will this affect the mortgage? As I don't want to waste this opportunity for.this job, but I don't want to lose the house either...

Thank you in advance!
PhenJ

If you decide to take the job, of course you need to be offered it first. Then you would need to inform the lender. As it is a material change of circumstances. This you agreed to to when signing the declaration when applying for the mortgage. The lender would then make a decision.
  • Thank you Thrugelmir!
Would this result in us having to go through the entire process again?
Or if I was to start the job for example, in November, but everything was completed and keys handed over in October would they need to be informed? As the job change would take place post purchase?

Just want to make sure I do it properly!

Then if you are starting within three months and have an offer letter they should be OK with it.

  • Ah great! I'm hoping everything is done by October, but this does depend on the current.house owner being ready to move herself. We made the offer beginning of August so fingers crossed it sorted soon.
    Thank you for your help!
  • How did it work out for you? I'm in a similar situation myself
