Hi
Just been informed being made redundant with notice till Christmas. I have an nhs pension of about 400 mth after tax at the mo. I tried the calculators which said no JSA allowance as my area is Universal credit. Tried UC calculator said im not entitled and apply for JSA. Tried Agee concern who said I should get JSA and housing benefit = about 110 but couldn't get any calculator to confirm it also wud get pension credit in march but didn't know how much. So tried housing benefit calculator which said only 59 a week.... Savings after redundancy wont be more than 10,000
Rang helpline for JSA which just rings so does anybody here have any info

Assuming you have worked and paid National insurance for the period April 14-April 16 then yes you will be entitled to claim JSA which is contributory. I'm not sure how this would work for housing benefit as that would need to be claimed via universal credit I believe. Until you are eligible for pension credit the lower savings threshold is £6000 so you may not be entitled to housing benefit anyway.
"The amount of contribution based JSA payable is reduced on a pound for pound basis by any regular income the claimant receives from an occupational or private pension in excess of £50 a week.""You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Any occupational pension over £50/week may be taken into account when calculating JSA (Contribution Based).
