Need loan but defaulted for over 5years...

Hi

I am new user to this website I hope someone can help me here.

Past 5-6 I have not been doing so good financially and had to move house many times, was homeless for around 2 years living in council bnb and just around a year ago moved into a council house with my mother and 2 younger siblings.

Currently I am in need of a loan, I went to my bank and they told me I have extremely poor credit rating, In the past I have taken wonga loan many times but always paid it back on time. Anyway I made a account on noddle and got credit report, everything looks fine on it expect this:

I don't even remember having that mobile number/contract, what should I do?

If I call tmobile do I have to pay them 80pounds for every month shown in that picture or is it a single payment of 80pounds? :(

And If I pay them that 80pounds will all the defaults/negative score be remove from my account?

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

A default falls off your file 6 years from the date of default.

If you pay a defaulted account, it'll show as Settled instead of Open.

If you didn't have the mobile account in question, contact EE (They bought T-Mobile) and dispute the account. You can only remove a default if it was invalid.

That said, if you've been needing Wonga loans etc, maybe it's best to post up an SOA and find ways to budget without resorting to credit.

    Hello.
Sorry, can't see the image -but before you try to remedy that, please be careful about the sort of information you're sharing on a public site. Maybe just explain what it is rather than post up a picture, or link.
Anyway - if you're in disagreement with something on your credit file (such as a default) you can dispute it on the Noddle website. So perhaps that should be the first thing you do. As to borrowing money - avoid PDLs and lenders like Wonga, the interest rates are shocking. Again you can look at your borrowing options via your Noddle account.
In terms of the 'default' you mention - unless you are successful with your dispute and are able to get the marker removed, it'll stay on your account for 6 years (from the date of entry), then it simply drops off your credit file.

    I can see it.

    The balance is £80.00.

The default date is 10/02/2012, so the default will disappear next February.

According to your file, the "cause of action" date was August 2011, so the debt is now statute barred, if you are contacted by anyone chasing this debt, reply with the statute barred letter.

But if your not been chased for this, and legal action has not already been taken, let sleeping dogs lie for now.

Forget further borrowing, do an SOA and try and budget better.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone. If it lasts 6years I am guessing it won't be gone from my credit file until 10/02/2018?

I think I will try contact EE this coming week and try explain to them, hopefully they will understand and remove the default from my account.

Please read Sourcrates and StopIt's posts again.

If EE feel this is valid, they will only change the status to 'settled default', and only then if you pay it. If the information is completely wrong, and not showing on Experian and Equifax, complain to Noddle/Callcredt.

If it is yours, it is borderline statute barred and so now is not a good time to be tinkering with it.

Your credit history is going to look bad whatever you do if you have a load of Wonga loans on there, until they drop off.

You seem determined to get a loan. Why?

NO, dont contact them at all, the debt is most likely statute barred now, or very soon will be.

Nothing you do will remove the default !!!

Just let nature take its course.

  • The bigger question here definitely seems to be why you're so keen to get a loan? If you're already relying regularly on Payday loans now is really not a good time to be exploring for further - and more long term - credit? Sort out your reliance on short term lending first, or you risk digging an almighty hole for yourself!
