Self assessment - what do I need?

First time doing a self assessment online. I have received my access code, so I'm ready to do it. What do I need? I have all my invoices and receipt of goods I've purchased. Anything else?

You'd probably get better help on the Cutting Tax board, but actually all you need are your year end accounts. What you're taxed on is your profit, so have you worked out what that is from your invoices and receipts?

I have. I've added up all my invoices and deducted my receipts from that

If you're sure you've included everything - don't forget you can claim use of home expenses, business mileage at 45ppm (aslong as you haven't included any fuel receipts etc) then that profit figure is all you need.

If you have any P60's or any P45's from any employment or pensions during the year you will need those too.

You can do more than just invoices and receipts. Go through the list on the gov.uk website of what you can claim. For example if you work from home you can include a percentage of your rent, council tax, bills, etc.
