Reimbursement for travel expenses?

I have a second interview for a new job today which I would love to get. They have said that if successful there will be 4-5 weeks training at a different location which is 30 miles away. I don't drive so would have to take the train which will cost me roughly £220 for 5 weeks. Im just wondering if I would be entitled to travel costs from the company or would I have to pay the cost from my own pocket.

That will depend on the company's expenses policy. There is certainly no legal obligation for them to pay any such travel expenses, but many companies would do so.

Discuss with the employer before accepting

Also make sure you have the training schedule to check the trains for convenience.

If the travel time is high it may be worth looking at overnights.

Assuming the company you will be working for isn't based 30 miles away, they should pay travel expenses for training although there isn't a legal obligation to do so. As others have said, check before accepting the job.

Thanks guys - I will ask later at my interview. The company has two sites - the one I applied for is 5 mins away from my house and the other - where the training will be - is 30 miles away.
