Can I afford to move out and rent?

Hi there
I just wanted to say well done for paying off the 12k :T :T
That is amazing
Just remember if and when you do move out, that you don't want to go back down that road - so keep a check of yourself. Keep the spending diary going, if you've got one - if not get one! Bulk cook and freeze, use Freecycle to fitout your new place.
Aww and what a nice mum you've got to pay your dep and first month's rent.....she doesn't want to get rid of you does she??
:rotfl:
Good luck, whatever you decide to do

Other people manage to do it. . .Yeah that's the problem, I don't have anyone to share with, all my mates are married or living with boyfriends, and I really don't wanna live with strangers again, I have done this at Uni and again later and I just feel I want my own space now, am older now.
Mmm, got to move out sometime, other people manage to do it, so maybe I can, not so sure now
Really, you think so?
You don't think that lots of the people here are people who "managed to do it" for a little while at least.
Do you really want to hand over £7200 per annum just to cover your rent?
Sharing is roughly going to cost 2/3rds of that (seems to be a general rule throughout the country)
That extra £2400 is the same as two damn good three week holidays away from your flatmates if they're annoying you, and two or three nice weekends away thrown in.0 -
Hi,
I'm usually rubbish at posting, but felt I had to because I was in almost the EXACT same situation as you about 6 months ago. I owed over 20k in debts, moved back in with my parents, paid everything off, and was ready and dying to move back out on my own again.
I was advised to have some savings etc put aside before I moved, but I ignored it
, and I went ahead and moved. My basic incomings/outgong etc are as follows:
Even though its in euros, everything is relative: I take home €2400, my rent is €850 and I have no debt whatsoever. I have to admit, it is still a struggle. I can cope month to month no problem, but if ANYTHING unusual pops up, I get stuck - i.e. last month it was a car service, this month its a wedding, next month it's something else.
I think you should go for it,, but consider sharing instead of renting on yourt own, or else be absolutely 110% sure that you are reformed, disciplined and ready to cut corners where necessary...
Good luck!

Hey,
Have you thought about putting notices up at work? Or maybe looking on gumtree? It might be that someone you work with is in the same situation and once you start asking around the word will spread.
Good Luck and I hope you find somewhere,
