Does anyone here use one of these? My smallest burner - and the flame is very low - will still get a fairly decent sized stock pot up to a near boil when all I'm wanting is a slow gentle plop-plop :rotfl: for slow cooking stews, soups etc...
Yes, I do use my slow cooker but there are some things I would rather have going along at barely simmering on the hob. I've got a gas hob with cast iron grates if that makes a difference.
All help gladly received

Yes I do - I got it in John Lewis and asked the assistant for a Heat Disperser, it's a circular double sided perforated disc that goes on the hob and fits all 3 sizes of burner on mine. I've had it for a few years and mine cost £9.99 from memory. Would certainly be worth checking it out if you're near to a JL or even on line. Useful bit of kit!0

Thanks for that, I’ll have a look online. It works well then? For a very low plop-plop, lol0

It's a good gadget, I use it under anything that needs a long slow steady cook, it saves burned pan bottoms if you get distracted and forget to stir!0

MrsLW - is this it? https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-heat-diffuser/p1355487?navAction=jump&_requestid=1467584#media-overlay_show
If it is, I may get two!0 -
Yes, that's the one and I may go and get myself another one as well, hope they do the job you want Petula, mine's been very useful over the years.0

Now I know what it is I have P'inned it to my wishlist. I feel confident that I will find it amongst the bric-a-brac in a charity shop in due course.
It might be of use if I actually cookedValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Yes, I had one that I used a lot, then we got an induction hob, which goes don very low, so I put it in the camper to use when away - it works brilliantly but can't tell you the make as I don't want to open up the camper!0

I used to have one for use on the gas cooker in my caravan but it eventually went rusty in there. I found it very useful though. Perhaps I should buy another and look after it a bit better.0

Mine gave up the ghost a while ago so thanks for the reminder. Have just ordered two from E*ay for £4.25 including delivery0

MrsLW, thanks again, I’ve ordered two and I think they are exactly what I’ve been wanting. :beer:0
