Working for Utilita

I have a friend who has very recently handed in his notice as store manager and accepted a job working for Utilita gas and electric in the Sales department (Cold calling) for the same money. Despite me politely advising he didn’t go forward with it he has. Just wondering if anyone else thinks hes’ made a mistake? And if any of you have had experience with them? As I had a call from one of them not too long ago and they we’re very push and quite rude.

Some people don't want to learn from the mistakes of others, preferring to make those mistakes themselves too. Perhaps your friend is one of those people.

None of us can know whether he's made a mistake. Does he have a pushy and rude personality? If so he may be the perfect fit and have a great career ahead of him. You've said your piece to him, he has ignored you, now leave things alone, it's nothing to do with you (or us).
  • Hi thank you,
Not really, his personality is anything but pushy or rude; and he's never worked within sales before. Whilst in my teens I had a horrible experience working within a short lived sales role. Where the employers really pushed you to oversell to the point of manipulating customers. Suffice to say I walked out after a couple of weeks, I really couldn't live with that kind of pressure or knowing I've put someone into debt. Hopefully it will be entirely different, and as you said he might thrive in such an environment. Many thanks!
