O/S Daily Tuesday 19th September 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Just getting light outside, dry underfoot but cool, forecast says no rain - we'll see.
Dinner last night was chicken in a country french sauce, new potatoes, HG green beans and peas - it was delicious. The chicken breasts were some I'd bought at the butchers and frozen - they taste so different to SM ones. I remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost so tonight we'll be having those with mash, veg and gravy - as long as I remember to buy potatoes today - I can visit the farm shop on my way into work this morning as they open early. I didn't have time to do it yesterday as I have an early start and late finish on a Monday, today is an easier day and my short day.
Work yesterday was a busy one - loads of customers and people waiting for ages to be seen, we did get there in the end but it was a bit of a slog, and of course some difficult cases.
We'll see how today goes.
Keep safe and well x

Morning Nmlc and all,.
Slept like a log last night. I was falling asleep in last night's community meeting. It wasn't that it was boring it was just that from having limited sleep the night before I was shattered. Meeting told me a few things I didn't know, like we have 3 Eastern Europeans camping amongst the gravestones of our local church. The council can't move them as it's on private property and the church won't move them because they say the church is a place for the people. Despite being offered hostel places they continue to use the cemetery as their toilet...I left the church I attended back in 2001 vowing never to set foot in one ever again but the meeting was held in the local (but a different) church. Despite that, it felt comforting and familiar. I miss the church but not the commitment and politics.
Up bright and early. Filled the men's flasks and put their packed lunches in their bags. They've been able to have a 15 minute lie in. I'm back in bed and will stay there till my hounds get me up (I might get half an hour if I'm lucky).
Onwards and forwards

Morning all, ive been up for a couple of hours and now OH and DS are up and have fed them bacon sandwiches as they are off to an appointment for DS (at a distance).
I'm off to a mid morning appointment then will do paperwork here as it is quite nearby.
Hope everyone has a good day, I can't quite tell what the weather will be like here, not light enough and I'm reluctant to look at the weather forecast, it is either a total joke or some kind of deliberate misinformation.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning :hello:
Scampi had one of his stressy days yesterday. They're very rare now but still happen occasionally, he doesn't want to be on his own at all and will follow me wherever I go. But yesterday he wouldn't follow me, he expected me to follow him and of course I wouldn't so he barked, howled and grumbled for most of the day. By 4pm I was like this

The shopping is being delivered this morning, thankfully Scampi has woken up in a better mood so there should be no theatrics at the door
I got most of my work done yesterday so will spend around half an hour going through bits of paper then that should be it for the week, apart from sorting the workplace pension thing out. The bloke has a staging date of 1st October and I've just realised I won't be here to do it. Not sure if it can wait or not so I'll check that.
I ordered some new make-up with my Boots points, it arrived yesterday so will go through my old stuff and have a good sort out. Not much else planned for the day, so crochet it is

Good morning everyone :hello:
I have been up for a little while so I have started making a lasagne for dinner tonight. I have spent a happy half hour chopping up the veg whilst listening to classic pop from the 70's. Now I have my funk on I am having a cup of tea and surfing the web
.
Becky has gone back to bed as she doesn't feel at all well. I can hear Lilly getting ready and there is no sign of Phoebe yet so I shall go and make sure she is awake in a minute. I am very much looking forward to having a chilled out day as I really need one after yesterday. I had a dental appointment so did the 4 hour round trip to Exeter and had another extraction and a couple of fillings. My mouth doesn't feel too sore this morning thankfully but I feel so tired.
Not much to say today so I shall hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning all.
Well that spectacular sunset hasn't followed through! There's a band of mist covering the sea and coming over the land too. Looks lovely but doesn't bode too well.
Today I have my postponed-from-last-week haircut and then teaching my Islay students. I'm looking forward to them again.
Food is still using up stuff from DM and my own close to being out of date yoghurt and veggies. It'll all be weird mixes!
I got up briefly but have decided on another half hour under the duvet as the bed was still warm and inviting.
Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the new thread. The forecast says we too are going to have a fine day for a change and there is a glorious sunrise over the hills.
I was woken from a deep sleep by the most awful racket outside at 6.15. It went on and on so eventually I got up to see what it was. A Hippo lorry contraption swinging the hugest bag of rubbish into it's depths, accompanied by much shouting. (It contained a neighbour's old kitchen and the packaging from the replacement) This took 20 mins and by then I was wide awake!
We are off gallivanting today - the Tuesday bus ride, including a late lunch (blow the sensible eating). Decisions, decisions, we can't decide whether to go over the moors to Hebden Bridge for a change or stick with Otley and backtracking to Ilkley for our usual ham, eggs, chips etc.
I like Otley for its cs. In particular St Gemma's where all the books (that I don't need!) are 50p and DVDs are 2 for £1. All clothes are 99p and mostly tat but I have occasionally found buried treasure.
Enough waffling from me. Have a good day if you can folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. CSARINA I hope things pick up for you soon, what a shame that DH won't be well enough to go to DGD's wedding. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning,
Thanks for the thread nmlc x
Tru - our aged spaniel follows me everywhere and it drives me nuts. Hope scampi is better today x
Work was challenging yesterday as my outlook account was affected by the glitch. Intermittent service all day, which is a pain as I was monitoring 4 email inboxes and trying to get on with my work!
Didn't manage to go to the gym as bff needed a chat about her Dsd who is 9 and being a brat, not just to her but also her mums partner. Not an easy situation but needs nipping in the bud.
Dinner tonight is chicken and chorizo pasta. I need cooking wine and some cream so will nip out at lunchtime for those.
Have a good day all,

Morning all
Nice bright day here but cool again, yesterday lunchtime was positively tropical ! I do hope we are going to get an Indian summer !!
Off to work for me and its our AGM day which means everyone at work will be hyper, there is free ice cream and a BBQ so a busy day ahead I think.
Must go and look in the freezer after this and get something out for dinner, I think there is some mince or meatballs in there, might do a spag bol or a chilli.
I ordered a cover for the patio set last night to protect it from the elements, it kind of feels like you are putting the garden to bed for winter.
Right I had better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks you for starting us off nmlc
I had a nice easy day yesterday not doing much and by the evening felt much better for it. I need to get on and do a bit more today though.
I’m going with elderly neighbour to her chiropodist appointment to lend her my arm to walk from the taxi into the surgery. She goes out every day and uses a shopping trolley to help her balance. She doesn’t like to take it with her to appointments though so I usually go with her.
I’ve got a load in the washing machine which should be finished shortly and I’m hoping to get it line dried. The forecast is ok so I’m hopeful that I will if not it can go on the airer in the bathroom. I definitely don’t want to use the td I’m really trying to cut back on all expenditure and expenses at the moment. I seriously need to cut my outgoings.
I had better go and get organised, I need some tea and something for breakfast.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
And they are off! Now that it is light, it looks quite misty so am hoping that the motorways are reasonably clear.
I am having a rather elderly mini baguette toasted for breakfast, too hard to use as a normal baguette but fine as toast,n waste not want not. And I'll make a casserole for the wanderers'' return. I need to have a shower and start work soon, I am waiting for the bacon smell to dissipate before I do, I really don't want to emerge from the shower, dry my hair and still smell of bacon.
Dumpling, hope you are ok after the dentist. Deleted_User, sorry to hear that things continue to be difficult.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
